Osceola Community Health Services Shares Safety Tips Amidst Hurricane Milton

Kissimmee, FL. (October 7)Osceola Community Health Services (OCHS) encourages patients to remain safe before, during, and after Hurricane Milton. OCHS encourages all patients to prepare for Hurricane Milton.

“Safety which includes health is everyone's responsibility,” said Dr. Belinda Johnson-Cornett, CEO of Osceola Community Health Services. “When preparing for Hurricane Milton, patients should remember to have their medical prescriptions readily available and have at least a 30-day supply. If Hurricane Milton requires OCHS to close its facilities, we will resume servicing patients as soon as safely possible. For immediate clinical needs, patients can contact their primary care medical home (PCMH) team with any medical concerns. Patients can also see updates on the patient portal that is accessible through the company’s website."

A special medical needs shelter opens at noon on Tuesday, October 8, at the Osceola Council on Aging, 700 Generation Point, Kissimmee, FL 34744.

If a patient has an appointment scheduled, we encourage the patient to reschedule the appointment by accessing the patient's portal at osceolahealthcare.org. Found in the top right corner of the website, patients can log into their medical or dental portal to see their labs or reschedule future appointments. Patients may also call 407-943-8600 or request a callback by sending a message through the website's contact page. If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 911.

Florida Department of Health State of Emergency

The Florida Department of Health is working with emergency managers statewide to prepare for any impacts to communities and reminds Floridians to have enough of their prescriptions on hand in the event pharmacies are temporarily unavailable. Under a state of emergency, Floridians are permitted to receive early prescription refills. An early refill may include controlled substances as long as the medical drug is not listed in Schedule II appearing in Chapter 893, Florida Statutes, of the Florida Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act.
